Educational Activities

Sunderland Maritime Heritage sees Education as one of its main functions. We welcome pre-booked visitors who are interested in our work, either individually or in groups, during our normal opening hours and at other times by arrangement.

We welcome school visits, normally from years 4 to 9 and offer interactive and fun visits.  We also offer more specific topic based visits for older pupils.
Our volunteers may also be available to come into schools, with artefacts and presentation materials.

We can provide speakers to local clubs and societies.

We provide placements for College or University students with relevant areas of study, including some craft skills.
We have a display area with tools from the shipyards and equipment from ships.

One of our exhibition rooms dedicated to models of locally-built ships and important local old buildings by our expert model builder, Fred Gooch.

Finally,  we have a small library suitable for research on local history and shipbuilding (By appointment only, please)
