- Sunderland Maritime Heritage have been awarded a grant of £50,000 to
establish a project promoting Sunderland's maritime past to educational
and other organisations in and around Sunderland.
|
- Our workshop undertakes the restoration and repair of wood boats
that we've acquired. By restoring and repairing boats ourselves we hope
to facilitate the retention of boat building skills once so prevalent.
|
- Sunderland Maritime Heritage is actively involved in promoting the
return of the historic clipper ship
'City of Adelaide' to Sunderland, for
restoration and display to the public.
|
- We are building a large scale model of HMS Venerable (Jack Crawfords' ship at the Battle of Camperdown) which will be fully rigged and launched on the Wear. It is being constructed by a team of dedicated boat builders headed up by Derek Rowell, the last-retiring time-served boat builder on the River Wear.
