Our objective is to promote Sunderland’s extensive maritime history through our museum and information centre and also to preserve vanishing skills in our workshops. We are the only place now boat building in Sunderland and Sunderland’s only Maritime heritage organisation. We have come so far in the last 20 years, steadily building the organisation to the standard we know and enjoy today and earning a Queens Award for Voluntary Service in June 2020 made us all very proud of our achievements and certainly made all our efforts so worthwhile. We are all part time volunteers here at the centre – we pay no salaries or expenses – and by necessity, we run a very tight ship, financially. All monies received go towards helping us pay our building and project running costs – currently running at around £10,000.00 a year – so anything you can donate, by whatever means, helps us “keep the lights on” and is very welcome. |

We are always looking for new volunteers to join us and help in many areas – boat repair, maintenance, woodworking, administration, fund raising, promotion, social media – to name but a few! For more information and a form if that is your preferred method of contact, go HERE |
